“We, the Waco Syrian Lebanese Association, are committed to preserving the rich heritage and promoting the vibrant culture of our Syrian, Lebanese and all other Arab communities. Our mission is to provide a welcoming space for cultural exchange, education, and community support, while fostering connections and celebrating the unique traditions that unite us.”
The Waco Syrian Lebanese Association club has a rich history dating back to 1934. It was formed by Syrian and Lebanese immigrants in Waco, Texas, as a local organization to enjoy friendship and raise money for local charities. The club is known for hosting an annual BBQ fundraising dinner, which started as a way to raise money for building a clubhouse and supporting local charities. This event became a much-anticipated annual tradition, feeding hundreds of thousands of Central Texans over several decades.
The club’s mission has always been to honor the heritage, customs, and food of its members, who are of Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian descent. They meet monthly to share a meal and discuss current events, both in their personal lives and in their ancestral homelands.
This association has played a significant role in preserving the cultural heritage of its members and contributing to the local community through its charitable efforts.
